Terminal & Vessel Facilities
Vehicle cargo is processed through dedicated auto-handling terminals within the port's Deltaport and Vanterm complexes, with rail connections via Canadian Pacific and Canadian National for onward distribution across Western Canada.
Typical Transit Time from the UK
28–35 days from Southampton or Tilbury via the Panama Canal.
UK departure ports served: Southampton, Tilbury.
Customs & Clearance Notes
Standard Canadian import requirements apply: CBSA Form 1, a Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspection within 45 days, and GST plus BC provincial sales tax at registration. Given the longer Panama Canal transit compared with Halifax, container shipping is often preferred for vehicles routed to Vancouver to protect against extended salt-air exposure.
Collection & Storage
Free storage is generally 5 days before per diem fees begin. We recommend booking your RIV inspection appointment in advance of arrival, since Vancouver's limited number of authorised RIV centres can have a short waiting list.
