Jebel Ali has dedicated RORO terminals and vast open-air vehicle storage yards within the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), allowing vehicles to be stored, processed and re-exported without incurring UAE import duty if not registered locally. Container vehicles are handled through Terminals 1, 2 and 3, among the most technologically advanced container facilities in the world.

Customs & Clearance Notes
Vehicles registered for use within the UAE attract 5% customs duty and must meet Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) conformity requirements. Vehicles held within the JAFZA free zone for re-export avoid UAE duty entirely, which is why Jebel Ali is heavily used by exporters shipping cars onward to third countries.
Collection & Storage
Free zone storage terms at JAFZA are more flexible than standard bonded storage elsewhere, often allowing extended free periods for re-export cargo, though vehicles being registered locally in Dubai typically have 5–7 days free time before standard demurrage applies.
