Customs & Clearance Notes
Singapore imposes very strict vehicle import controls including a Certificate of Entitlement (COE) obtained by open bidding, plus Additional Registration Fee (ARF) and excise duty that can multiply the landed cost several times over — a system designed to control the country's vehicle population. As a result, private used-vehicle imports for permanent local registration are uncommon; most UK shipments through Singapore are in transit to other South East Asian markets.

Free-trade-zone storage is available for transhipment cargo, which is the majority use case for vehicles routed through Singapore. Vehicles intended for local Singapore registration face significant additional cost and bidding-based timelines through the COE system, so we advise discussing this route carefully with our team first.
