March through June tends to be the busiest period for UK vehicle exports, driven by expats relocating before the new school year abroad, students shipping cars for gap years, and increased demand for shipping to the Southern Hemisphere ahead of their winter. During this window, RoRo and container rates to Australia, the US and UAE can rise by 10-20% compared with quieter months, and booking lead times stretch as vessel space fills up weeks in advance.

November through January (excluding the Christmas fortnight, when port operations slow) is typically the cheapest window to book shipping, as demand for both RoRo and container slots drops. Carriers are often more willing to negotiate on freight rates during this period, and space is more readily available for last-minute bookings without the premium charged during peak season.

Beyond general demand cycles, certain routes have weather-related considerations. Atlantic crossings during hurricane season (June-November) can occasionally see schedule disruptions, while Northern European routes may experience winter storm delays from December to February. If shipping to Canada's East Coast, be aware some ports have reduced winter capacity due to ice, which can extend transit times by several days.

UK and many international ports operate reduced schedules over the Christmas and New Year period, typically 24 December to 2 January.
